It is 2019. Central America’s Pacific maritime migration route has moved north of the Mexico-Guatemala border. The migrants making the crossing have changed as well: Thousands of Africans now travel through this land of drug traffickers and banana tycoons, traversing half the planet in hopes of reaching the United States. On terra firma, the border between Guatemala and Mexico has shifted as well, to the north of Tapachula.
